Dr. Shepherd is a native Texan who grew up in Lindale. She started her career as a teacher. She has a passion for helping others and taught in places from San Antonio to India. Dr. Shepherd decided to combine her love of teaching, interest in women’s health and passion for service into a career in medicine. She completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center and finished her residency at the Ivy League’s Brown University. Dr. Shepherd takes pride in educating patients about their condition, providing personalized care and forming meaningful relationships with her patients. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, running and spending time with her husband, also a teacher, and two children. She is excited to return home to Texas and to join the River Place OB/GYN team!

I recently transitioned my care to Dr. Shepherd following Dr. Pepper’s departure. Since then, I’ve been dealing with some unexplainable postpartum complications that have been frustrating to navigate. While the exact cause of my discomfort remains unclear, I truly appreciate the time and dedication Dr. Shepherd has shown in helping me seek relief. It’s rare to find a provider who genuinely listens and is committed to getting to the root of the issue when the answers aren’t obvious.

Yes! Incredibly helpful to have the telemedicine as an option. I was scheduled much faster than I expected, the visit was succinct, direct but also thorough. I feel that these visits encourage and remind me that the office is easily accessible from anywhere, but also a part of MY community.

Dr. Shepherd is the ONLY doctor I have that takes the time to listen and genuinely cares for my well being . I know how busy she is - but whenever I meet with her she gives me her full attention, responds to messages / voicemails / questions at rocket speed . It’s almost as if I am he only patient ! Who does that these days ??She takes the time to explain in detail why we are taking a certain treatment path and why she thinks the other options available may not be the best for me . She is simply AMAZING .

I was informed that Dr. Shepherd had to attend to hospital patients, but despite the schedule, she was kind enough to complete my annual exam. Routine Pregnancy / Prenatal Appointment

Dr. Shepherd is the best OB/GYN I have ever had. This was my first ever prenatal appointment. It was a bit scary because when Dr. Shepherd did the ultrasound, she could not find the baby. She explained that it was most likely just too early to see anything but did explain additional possibilities like miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. However, she made sure to emphasize that it was probably just too early and ordered two rounds of labs to make sure the baby was growing normally. What I appreciate about Dr. Shepherd is that she will be upfront with you without being cold. I can trust her to tell me the truth but also to be empathetic and compassionate. She cares about how you are feeling during the appointment and makes sure you are comfortable. She is the only OB/GYN I have ever trusted and the only OB/GYN I would trust to take care of myself and my baby. Dr. Shepherd has the perfect mix of smarts and heart.
