Laura grew up in San Antonio, Texas and Hoover, Alabama. She completed her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her graduate degree at the University of South Alabama. She returned back to Texas in 2016 and worked in Austin as a Labor and Delivery nurse where she met Dr. Thoppil and Dr. Shepherd. Laura joined the River Place team as a nurse in 2018 and is excited to continue working as a Nurse Practitioner caring for patients and continuing to build relationships. In her free time, she enjoys watching LSU football, running, and spending time with friends.

Although I adore Dr. Shimer and Twyla, the front office staff is not friendly and/or welcoming. Nobody says anything to me, not even “hello” when I sign in. The first smile and acknowledgement occurs when Twyla opens the door to take me back to the exam room.
