John Thoppil

Dr. John Thoppil leads River Place OB/GYN and provides state of the art care to women from in and around Austin, Texas. Patients of all ages have access to a wide variety of services including annual wellness visits, obstetrics, prenatal care, 3D and 4D ultrasounds, gynecology, birth control, hormone management including bio-identical hormone replacement, and weight management services.

FROM A YOUNG AGE DR. THOPPIL DREAMED OF A CAREER IN MEDICINE
Dr. Thoppil has ALWAYS had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a passion for helping and caring for others. He was able to merge his two loves by following the footsteps of both his parents into a career in medicine. He completed his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University and his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine, one of the premier medical schools in the country. He did his OB/GYN training at the Air Force’s flagship medical center, Wilford Hall, at Lackland AFB. Dr. Thoppil served his country as a physician in the Air Force prior to returning to his home state of Texas in 2008. Watch an introductory video from Dr. Thoppil here.

Today, Dr. Thoppil is an accomplished physician who has been recognized with numerous academic, professional, and patient-driven awards. He is an active member of the Austin community and is a strong advocate for women’s health issues on a local, as well as national level.

As a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist (OB/GYN), Dr. Thoppil forms long-lasting relationships with his patients. He specifically chose this specialty because it allows for continuity of care. He is committed to his practice and delivers the vast majority of his OB patients himself! Dr. Thoppil is involved and accessible to all of his patients. Don’t be surprised to find him calling you back personally, with your test results and answers to questions!
