Since 2009, our board-certified OBGYN, Dr. Barrett Blaue, has treated women in San Marcos and New Braunfels, TX with reproductive medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Dr. Blaue is a proud member of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) and the TriCounty Medical Society.

Along with the other members of the surgical team at the Caring Center for Women, Dr. Blaue is certified in da Vinci robotic surgery. In the operating room, Dr. Blaue regularly performs cystoscopies, ovarian surgery, tubal ligations, and vaginal prolapse and injury repairs. He has several medical privileges to hospitals in the San Antonio – Austin, TX Corridor, including the Central Texas Medical Center.

Annual Well Woman Exam

Doctor appeared in a rush. I asked questions about perimenopause and some of the symptoms. He didn't offer to run any tests or get any type of followup care to understand why I may be feeling this way. I had a partial hysterectomy 10 years ago, so without a menstrual cycle I don't really know when my body is entering that phase. He basically said if I feel I might need hormone help, to go somewhere else. It was probably a 90 second conversation. I will be switching doctors. Would hate for my daughters to have an experience like this.

Dr. Blaue, MD, FACOG delivered two babies before my appointment. He didn’t rush the appointment, even though he had a full day to still work through. He was calm, confident, and kept a kind, comfortable table-side manner. As far as me “referring to others” I highly recommend him and have done so for all 3-4 years I’ve been his client.

I had a confirmation pregnancy appointment with Dr. Blaue. This was my first appointment since my miscarriage last fall and I was extremely nervous. Dr. Blair was very kind and made sure to find the new embryo and a heart beat even though it was difficult since I was only 6 weeks.

Fertility Testing

I got a referral from my PCP for fertility and waited over a month to be seen at your office by Dr. Blaue. I understand this, many doctors offices have been busy. When I went in, the doctor met with me in his personal office and told me he just wanted to see what point I was at in my fertility journey and I told him I had never been seen before. He said I then needed to make an appointment with the office next door and he would give me a refund for the appointment because he could only help me if I had already had prior testing. Why would I even be scheduled with this doctor if he can’t do any fertility testing? That’s what I was referred for. The ovation and fertility office didn’t have availability until another month out. I felt I could have been contacted via phone call at any point to confirm which doctor I needed to see if there was such a possibility that the doctor wouldn’t be able to help me, and it was clear he thought that might be the case since he had me meet him in his office rather than a patient room. It is truly cruel to have me come in and do nothing after waiting a month as someone who is facing fear and sadness every month and had hope that I may begin to get answers and help that day. I asked if he could do anything for me and he said it had to be the other doctor. I will not be returning to this doctor. You all sent me home in tears.
