Andrew Thomas Shimer

Dr. Andrew Shimer is a Board Certified OB/GYN at Craig Ranch OB/GYN in McKinney, Texas, serving patients in the entire Dallas area. He has been in practice for 20 years and is experienced in many areas of women’s health care.

His training at one of the busiest training hospitals in the country has helped him manage all types of high-risk pregnancy conditions including hypertension, diabetes, twin pregnancy, VBAC’s, and many other high-risk conditions.

He also prides himself in providing the most up to date treatment of gynecological problems. He has served on the medical board of Hologic helping improve and develop the latest Novasure device to treat heavy menstrual cycles and has taught many other OB-GYNs in the area how to perform this in-office ablation procedure. He also is very experienced performing all types of hysterectomies depending on the need of his patients.

Dr. Shimer earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame. He then went on to attend Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he earned his medical degree and gave the graduation speech to his class as Class President. He completed his residency training at Baylor as well and was Chief Resident his last year. Following his residency, Dr. Shimer was in private practice in North Carolina as well as a clinical instructor at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill before relocating to Dallas in 2000 and starting Craig Ranch OB-GYN. He enjoys golf, travel, and spends much of his time coaching his kids in their various sports.
