Diana Wang, MD serves women from throughout Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas at Austin Area OB/GYN and Fertility. Dr. Wang has special interest and skill in minimally invasive surgery, including single-incision laparoscopic surgery, and is committed to staying on the cutting edge of advanced surgical techniques to better women’s health.

Dr. Wang is a long time Austinite who went to Westlake High School, then stayed on to be a Texas Longhorn, graduating from the Plan II Honors program at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Wang went on to study medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency with the UTMB Austin program, and was one of the first Ob/Gyn resident physicians in the nation to be trained on the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. Dr. Wang practiced as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Ob/Gyn residency in Austin where she was the Director of Skills and Simulation, and introduced Single Site Laparoscopic surgery into the program.

Dr. Wang was recognized with the 2011 National Faculty Award for Excellence in resident education presented by the UTSW Austin OB/GYN residency program, is the 2009 recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award and is the 2022 recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award from HCA Healthcare.

As a former dancer with Ballet Austin, Dr. Wang continues to perform and choreograph in her leisure. She is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

I know at a Well Woman exam what is involved but I don't like when things are inserted in my vagina when it wasn't necessary. Also not preparing the patient for having something inserted into the vagina. The appointment is too fast, especially when you get to the room late due to the doctor running behind, etc. It doesn't feel like you're in the room with a doctor enough.

Overall I was satisfied with the appointment. Dr. Wang is amazing and the nurse who assisted me in the exam room (i think her name was Sunny?) was great. My only concern was that I wasn’t provided any info in advance about what the appointment would entail. I don’t normally have lab work done as part of my annual visit and after waiting an hour in the waiting room, I was directed to get lab work done with no context provided. When I had questions about this, it was very difficult to find someone to ask. I opted to decline the lab work because I was not prepared for it. Had I known that lab work would have been part of the appointment, I would have been better prepared (fasting, making sure I was well hydrated because I have difficult veins, etc).
