She is the president of the Caring Center for Women, which services two locations in San Marcos and New Braunfels, TX. Dr. Irwin is the only board-certified female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeon in the San Antonio and Austin, TX Corridor. As an award-winning urogynecologist between San Antonio and Austin, Dr. Irwin has been voted as one of “Texas’ Best Doctors” by Texas Monthly in 2005 – 2007. In 2011, she was also featured as one of their “Super Doctors.”

Office Visit / Follow-up

This rating is for my visit with Dr. Irwin. She has always been great, providing me with options for my condition and being very honest and forthcoming. I shared with Dr. Irwin that I felt that her office's internal process for the Axionics implant could have been smoother. Once all of the appointments were set, all of the info should have been shared with me via an email by the person who was responsible for that initial process. The 6-week follow-up appointment with Dr. Irwin wasn't put on the doctor's calendar, so when I showed up at the office her staff worked to get me in. There was also confusion about the letter that was needed from my primary prior to the surgery. That was also a "last minute" deliverable and I had to rush to get into see my primary to get the letter. I hand-delivered the letter to Caring Center's office, and was there was confusion about whether the letter was sufficient. It was eventually accepted, but I feel the process for that pre-surgery requirement could have gone a lot smoother. Having any kind of surgery is stressful enough as it is, but to have these types of snafus makes it even more so. All in all, the process for this procedure could have been a heck of a lot more efficient and smooth by sending a "written" communication to the patient that clearly outlines all of the pre-and post-surgery requirements and appointments that has also been shared with the doctor's internal staff and with Axionics (if needed). I feel that the patient needs to have confidence not only in her doctor, but also in her whole staff. See first question
