Dr. Shepherd is a native Texan who grew up in Lindale. She started her career as a teacher. She has a passion for helping others and taught in places from San Antonio to India. Dr. Shepherd decided to combine her love of teaching, interest in women’s health and passion for service into a career in medicine. She completed medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center and finished her residency at the Ivy League’s Brown University. Dr. Shepherd takes pride in educating patients about their condition, providing personalized care and forming meaningful relationships with her patients. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, running and spending time with her husband, also a teacher, and two children. She is excited to return home to Texas and to join the River Place OB/GYN team!

Post-Partum Appointment

I always feel heard by Dr. Shepherd with every appointment I have. She never rushes any appointment, takes her time answering my questions, and genuinely cares about her patients. I've been seeing Dr. Shepherd for a few years now. She helped me when I originally came in with issues concerning birth control up until I had my first baby. She always makes me feel comfortable during every appointment, answers all of my questions, and has never made me feel rushed. During my first delivery, she kept me informed on everything and helped me understand any complications that I was having. She was able to keep me calm during the whole 28 hours of laboring that ended up in a c-section. I recommend her to anyone who's looking for a new OBGYN. She is the best provider I have ever had.

Lab Work

Dr Shepherd is always caring, informative, and explains things in a way I can understand so I can make decisions right for me. Also bloodwork at the recent appt with Cathy/Kathy was really well done. I have had some not so great draws before. Dr Rachel Shepherd is a gem. I worked with her my first child and even though she was out of insurance for my second, I still kept her and paid out of pocket. She is caring, informative and listens. She also explains things in a way I understand. Also in labor, her energy and guidance was amazing. She and the team made it a beautiful memory of which I am grateful <3

I have been a patient of Dr. Shepherd's for many years ~ that in itself is my continued visits with medical and/or annual exams ~ she is very personable, remembers just about everything, even after 8 mos to a year. She even complimented me on my recent hair cut. (use to have very long hair) and I had not been there since last year. Anyway, she is the best...kudos to Dr. Shepherd. :)
