Dana recently joined River Place OB/GYN as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She comes to us with 15 years of women’s health experience, previously working as a labor and delivery nurse supervisor with Drs Shepherd and Thoppil. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) and did her Masters of Nursing at South Alabama.

Dana believes that a balanced and holistic approach to healthcare is important in maintaining wellness. While she offers care for women across the lifespan, she has a particular interest in the healthcare needs of teenagers as well as sexual wellness and low libido concerns for all women.

In her spare time she loves hiking, football and spending time with her son Henry and daughter Lauren.

Everybody who helped me, from check-in to intake and to the exam were very kind. It was also very fast. Dr. Wicker seems to care a lot about her job and asked how I was doing/feeling mentally and physically and if there were any concerns. She gave advice or solutions for those concerns.

The staff were nice and the Dr. Preforming the exam let me take the lead and was reassuring that we could stop if I wanted which was nice. I've had experiences where it is a little traumatic to have exams done and I've had OBGYNs ignore concerns. I've never had a bad experience in this office.

Gynecological Problem Visit

the visit was so quick, the doctor barely asked questions about what I was feeling, and decided to run zero tests and only send me home with topical medicine. even though I left a urine sample the test was never ran, two days later I have UTI symptoms and had to go back to re-do the urine test. Essentially paid for the first visit for her to barely even look inside. It was literally 2 minutes with the doctor (not exaggerating). I think it is important to spend time with a patient without being rushed. especially considering how costly healthcare is. I paid $160 out of pocket for a few minutes with a doctor who barely seemed to listen and asked no follow up questions, and was not proactive about telling me the different things it could be. She assumed the issue was the easiest one to solve and sent me home with topical medicine, even though I had just been there a month prior with a similar issue that ended up being a yeast infection. She did not even do a swab to see if it was a yeast infection again, or urine test to test for other things - simply that I could come back again if it persists (and conveniently pay another $160).
